The founding banquet of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was held in our opulent Crystal Ballroom in 1927. Thereafter, the hotel hosted eight Academy Awards banquets in the ‘30s and ‘40s. John F. Kennedy stayed at our hotel and spoke in our ballrooms during the 1960 Democratic National Convention.

Hold your event under our hand-painted 30-foot ceiling, majestic balconies, and magnificent Austrian crystal chandeliers. Known as “the birthplace of Oscar”, this is where the Oscar statuette is said to have been drawn on a Biltmore napkin during the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ founding banquet.

This is the same room where Clark Gable, Walt Disney, and Spencer Tracy delivered their winning Academy Award speeches back in the days of Hollywood’s Golden Era.
