Sitting splendidly to the west of the hotel is Dawangfeng ("Great King Peak"), the very first peak one encounters when travelling down the Nine Bend River. It is shaped like the gauze hat of imperial officials in ancient China and exudes an aura unmatched by any of the other peaks. The peak rises 530 metres above sea level. From the hotel, it resembles a gargantuan pillar stretching upwards towards the sky. Among the 36 peaks of Mount Wuyi, Dawangfeng is known as the king of them all, second to none. The reason for this badge of honour is apparent upon standing right in front of its majesty.
