Take a cultural break and visit the Cable Car Museum
You'll probably ride a cable car at some point in New Zealand – all those amazing views call out for a bird's eye view after all – but to learn more about this mode of transport, The Cable Car Museum is a must. Located in the original winding house for the cable car system, you'll be browsing the place people worked in from 1902 until 1978, before modern technology took over. The original winding mechanism is still in working order, as are two of the three grip cars that once operated on the line.
