This modern museum and gallery pays homage to the people and history of Wairarapa, and is the only public art collection in the region. This comprises works by seminal figures in modern New Zealand art, including Colin McCahon, Toss Woollaston and John Drawbridge, as well as prominent artists from the region such as Roy Steer who bequeathed a large collection of work to the museum. The museum also hosts a roster of changing exhibitions, ranging from travelling national shows to exhibitions by local artists.
