Valentine’s Day 2022 in London – Eight Ideas for Easy Romantic Moments

Valentine’s Day 2022 in London – Eight Ideas for Easy Romantic Moments

London has set the scene for some of the most iconic romantic moments - from the bookshop in Notting Hill to stolen kisses in Shakespeare in Love, and from the enduring love of Queen Victoria for her beloved Prince Albert to Hermione and Ron’s story that began at platform 9 3/4. This Valentine’s Day experience some of the charm that makes falling in love in London so easy. We’ve selected eight of London’s most romantic things to do this Valentine’s Day, from the stage to the screen and from romantic hotels to Champagne views.

1. Romance at the Rivoli

You don’t need to try hard to create romance at the Rivoli Ballroom. One of London’s last 1950’s ballrooms hosts regular dance classes and live music throughout the year, but they’ve put together something even more special for this Valentine’s Day. Their vaulted gold-ceilinged ballroom will be converted into a cinema showing some of your favourite silver-screen love stories. Settle in with your popcorn and cocktails for Breakfast at Tiffany’s on the 10th and Romeo and Juliet on the 11th. If you fancy something a little more active, then book ahead for the Jive Party on the 12th February. Expect live bands, the sound of the 40s and 50s, and plenty of romance on the dancefloor.

2. I´ve Only Got Eyes for Kew

From the 5th February to the 6th March the colours of Costa Rica come alive in the Princess of Wales Conservatory at Kew Gardens’ Orchid Festival. Get a little hot in the tropics even if it’s cold outside as you explore the stunning collection from Central America. Book your tickets for Saturday and at 11am and 1pm you’ll be treated to traditional Costa Rican dance performances.

If you want it to be extra romantic, then head to Kew for a special Orchids after Dark evening (On the 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th and 26th February) The romance is turned up with cocktails, Latin music, street food and more.

3. Get Cosy at The Cadogan

Head to the heart of Chelsea on the 14th February where the Cadogan Hall’s stunning acoustics and beautiful stained glass is the backdrop for a very special Valentine’s Opera Gala. Soprano Gemma Summerfield, tenor Luis Gomes, conductor Ben Glassberg, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform some of the most stunning arias, duets, and overtures from the world of Carmen, La Traviata, La Bohème and more. Guests at Millennium’s Knightsbridge hotels are just moments from this historic venue.

4. The Language of Love at The London Eye

Lit up in the colour of love, London’s most romantic spot will be celebrating Valentine’s Day from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th February. Beyond the views of London’s most stunning architectural marvels and the twinkling lights reflected in the Thames, the London Eye will be embracing the celebration with live music, poetry readings, and fresh red roses on the 14th. Upgrade your experience with a Cupid’s Capsule package and enjoy the views from 135m above the river with Pommery Brut Royal Champagne and Hotel Chocolat pink Champagne truffles.

5. Love and Lust in London’s Bridgerton Experience

From Wednesday 16th February 2022 until the end of March you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Bridgerton. Step back in time into Regency London at Lady Whistledown’s Society Ball where string reworkings of some of your musical favourites will set the mood for three-hours of dancing, risqué partying, mouth-watering delicacies, and much more. The creative company behind the always-popular Secret Cinema provide you with your own backstory for an unforgettable London Valentines’ experience.

6. Keep on Dreamin’ at Pretty Woman: The Musical

London’s Savoy Theatre brings one of Hollywood’s most unlikely romances to the stage and delivers all the fairytale magic that makes the movie so iconic. The musical score was created by music legends Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, and Tony Award winning Jerry Mitchells directs a show that has earned 5-star reviews and record-breaking box office sales since it opened. Arrive early for drinks in one of the theatre’s four bars, while soaking in the details and drama from the building’s captivating 1920’s architecture.
