The Rotorua Museum opened in 1969 in what was formerly the old bath house building, in the government gardens of Rotorua. For a touch more culture, the Rotorua Art Gallery was opened in 1977, and both were combined in 1988 to bring the Rotorua Museum of Art and History to the city.
